About Detrol
The information below should not be taken as a substitute for qualified medical advice. Consult your health care provider before taking Detrol.
Detrol is used to control the symptoms of overactive bladder including frequent urination, leaking and loss of bladder control. The medication works by preventing contractions and spasms in the bladder. Detrol may have other uses as prescribed by a doctor.
Detrol is usually taken orally twice a day. A long acting capsule is available and is only taken once per day. Always take the medicine as indicated by a doctor. If a dose is forgotten, the missed dose should be taken as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, do not take two doses at once to make up for the missed one.
Like most medications, there are several side effects associated with taking Detrol. If the following symptoms do not go away, be sure to contact a health professional. Common side effects are dry mouth, upset stomach, blurred vision, constipation, headache, dry eyes, drowsiness and dizziness. Less common side effects include rash, chest pain and difficulty with urination. If these side effects occur, seek immediate medical attention.
This medication may impair reactions and the ability to think clearly. Take care not to perform activities that require alertness while taking this drug. Do not drink alcohol while taking Detrol as it may intensify the side effects of the medication.
