About Exforge
The information below should not be taken as a substitute for qualified medical advice. Consult your health care provider before taking Exforge.
Exforge is prescribed to treat high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. It is a combination of the medications amlodipine and valsartan. Amlopdipine is a calcium channel blocker which relaxes the muscles of your heart and blood vessels. Valsartan is an angiotension II receptor antagonist used to keep blood vessels from narrowing. This medication has been known to cause dizziness upon standing up from a sitting or lying position. To prevent falls, be sure to get up slowly and carefully. While adjusting to this medication, patients may also experience runny or stuffy nose and flushing.
Exforge is usually taken once a day, with or without food. Those who have been prescribed Exforge should not use salt substitutes or potassium supplements without consulting their physician.
Patients should not discontinue this medication without consulting their physician.
Women who are pregnant should not use Exforge. Patients who suspect pregnancy should stop using this medication immediately and contact their doctor as Exforge could injure the unborn baby.
