About Ikorel
The information below should not be taken as a substitute for qualified medical advice. Consult your health care provider before taking Ikorel.
Ikorel is a potassium-channel activator medication used to treat certain cardiovascular conditions. Ikorel works by affecting the smooth muscle in blood vessel walls and causing the blood vessels to dilate. Ikorel can be used to treat angina pectoris, or chest pain due to the heart not getting enough oxygenated blood, and other complications of coronary artery disease. Ikorel may reduce the risk of a heart attack in people with coronary artery disease.
Ikorel is usually taken twice per day. Do not take Ikorel with medications that are used to treat erectile dysfunction, such as sildenafil or similar drugs. In combination, the drugs can cause blood pressure to drop to dangerous levels. Some other medications may decrease blood pressure as well. Tell your doctor about all medications and supplements that you are taking before taking Ikorel. Drinking alcohol while taking Ikorel may cause a drop in blood pressure and dizziness.
Side effects of Ikorel include headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, skin flushing, muscle weakness, rectal bleeding, mouth ulcers, low blood pressure, increased heart rate, skin rash and muscle aches. More severe side effects that require immediate medical attention include liver problems, dangerously low blood pressure, angioedema and gastrointestinal bleeding.
Ikorel is available as a prescription drug in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, France, Ireland and the Netherlands. Ikorel is not available in the United States.
