Mirapex is a prescription medication used to treat the symptoms that occur as a result of Parkinson's Disease, a nervous system ailment that is characterized by poor balance, muscle control, and difficulty controlling the body's movements. Mirapex is a dopamine agonist. It works by augmenting or replacing dopamine in the brain, a neurochemical that assists in controlling movement. Mirapex treatments normally begin at the lowest possible dose, which is gradually increased over time. Some patients find it takes up to three weeks to notice a significant degree of symptom improvement.
