About Myochrysine
The information below should not be taken as a substitute for qualified medical advice. Consult your health care provider before taking Myochrysine.
Myochrisine is a gold compound used as part of a comprehensive treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. Its use is generally reserved for those in the advanced stages of the disease or for those who cannot take other medications. It is primarily an anti-inflammatory and works to decrease pain levels by reducing tissue swelling. It's known to provide relief for the phenomenon known as "morning stiffness" and to increase grip strength in the hands.
Myochrysine is prescribed as an intramuscular injection that is provided by a heath care professional. The prescribed dose is based on a patient's medical condition and how they respond to therapy. Injections are administered weekly. Therapy typically begins with the lowest dose in the first week's injection. Dosages are increased weekly until a maximum of one gram of the drug has been administered or until improvement occurs. It can take eight weeks for such improvement to be noticed and the maximum benefits may not be felt for up to six months.
Since the medication is given as an injection it is unusual for a patient to miss a dose. However, if the appointment for the injection is missed it should be rescheduled as soon as possible.
Myochrysine has known side effects, though not all patients experience them. These include skin rash, itching, and oral symptoms such as irritation and soreness of the tongue, metallic taste in the mouth, and red, swollen, or bleeding gums. Sometimes these symptoms may occur then disappear as the body adjusts to the new regimen. Patients should consult their health care provider for any symptoms which recur or become serious.
