About Novomix Flexpen
The information below should not be taken as a substitute for qualified medical advice. Consult your health care provider before using a Novomix Flexpen.
A Novomix Flexpen is prescribed for treatment of diabetes mellitus. It is a mix of fast acting and slow acting insulin analogues. The mixture lowers blood sugar quickly, has maximum impact within four hours, and lasts for up to twenty four hours.
The Novomix Flexpen delivers a controlled dose of insulin by injection under the skin. It is designed to work safely and accurately under most conditions. It may be safely carried in a purse or pocket for up to four weeks.
Each dose should be taken as directed by a health care provider. Normally, Novomix is used at the same time each day, immediately before a meal or carbohydrate rich snack. If the patient forgets to take the dose before eating, it may be taken directly afterwards. Patients who forget or skip a dose entirely should check their blood sugar immediately and consult a health care professional right away.
Misuse or overuse of a Novomix Flexpen may result in hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar. Patients who experience nausea, thirst, increased urination, drowsiness, dry mouth, or any other symptoms should consult their health care provider immediately.
There are some side effects associated with Novomix, but they are uncommon. The most common is hypoglycemia and its associated symptoms, but other side effects might include mild problems with vision, swollen joints, or allergic reactions at the injection site.
