Rhinocort Aqua is a prescription nasal spray primarily for the treatment of seasonal allergy symptoms such as sneezing, congestion, and a runny nose. It is also prescribed for the treatment of year-round allergic symptoms, or perennial allergies. It is a steroid medication which acts to prevent inflammation in mucous tissues by limiting the body's immune system response. Applied topically or in the form of a spray, fhese medications are very effective in treating allergic conditions.

It is prescribed for adults but can be used safely in children as young as six years of age. Results can take anywhere from two days to two weeks to appear. The full prescription should be taken even after experiencing improvement in symptoms. The use of Rhinocort Aqua should not be stopped abruptly, but stepped down gradually. No negative interactions with other drugs have been observed.

Rhinocort Aqua has also been used successfully in preventing the return of nasal polyps after surgery.

Side effects from the use of Rhinocort Aqua are typical of those experienced in any topical treatment of an inflamed area. All known side effects pass quickly, but include nasal bleeding, dryness, crusting, sneezing, coughing, sore or itchy throat, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and headache.
